Maitland launched its Luxembourg activities in 1976, expanded and developed to its present status as an international business comprising four divisions; Legal Advisory, Trust and Corporate Services, Asset Management and Fund Services. Whilst its client base extends from Europe to worldwide, Maitland remains the leading provider of international corporate, tax and wealth management solutions to South African–linked businesses and individuals.
In June 2005, Maitland acquired a controlling stake in FinSource, a South African based specialist provider of outsourced fund administration solutions to institutional and alternative fund managers. The transaction resulted in the merger of Maitland's international fund administration business with FinSource. In 2006, this company was renamed Maitland Fund Services and the division now has over US$42 billion in assets under administration.
